The cartridge is where vinyl becomes electricity, and it is the easiest upgrade to hear. Rega makes two families: moving-magnet (Carbon to Nd9), high-output and easy to live with; and moving-coil (Ania to the Aphelion 2 reference), lower output but faster and more revealing. Each is hand-built and mounts in three points on a Rega arm, which sets the overhang for you. Start with what your phono stage supports.
