Aesthetically it's basic, but this Rega system is greater than the sum of its parts

System One is the whole argument of this brand in one carton: a Planar 1 turntable, an io amplifier, a pair of Kyte loudspeakers, the mini remote and two three-metre lengths of Rega speaker cable. Nothing is missing and nothing was cheapened to make the package work — the io's built-in moving-magnet phono stage means the Planar plugs straight in, and its two line inputs leave room for a streamer or a television later. Set-up is half a minute on the deck and a screwdriver on the speakers. Buy it as a first real system, or as the answer to the question of what you give someone who has never owned one.
