Rega
Aphelion 2
The Aphelion 2 is the reference — the fourth generation of Rega's moving-coil design and the cartridge built for the Planar 10 and the Naia. The hand-wound micro-cross coil sits directly on a Boron cantilever, with the fine-line nude diamond mounted through 90 degrees for the utmost stiffness, all inside a graded, zero-tolerance black-anodised aluminium body. Like every Rega moving-coil it runs undamped — no tie-wire, no foam — chasing clear highs and tight bass without the ageing parts that blur them. This is the top of the range, meant for a system that can resolve it, and the cartridge reviewers reach for the word 'revelation' to describe.
