The Nd5 is the middle of the Nd family and, for many systems, the sweet spot. It shares the family's Neodymium generator and lightweight PPS body but steps up to a true nude elliptical diamond — a genuine ellipse, ground rather than bonded to a shank — which sharpens tracking and widens the soundstage over the Nd3. Rega fits it as an option on the Planar 3 and Planar 6. If the Nd3 shows what the Nd magnet can do, the Nd5 is where it starts to rival cartridges that cost considerably more. It is the one we suggest most often for a good mid-range deck.
