Planar 78
The Planar 78 does one thing the rest of the range will not: it plays 78rpm shellac, and only that. Rega stripped out every other speed and spent the saving on the parts that matter — the excellent RB220 arm, a 24V low-noise motor, the advanced EBLT drive belt. If you have inherited a collection of 78s, nothing else at this price treats them with such care. Note the dedicated RB78 cartridge is sold separately, since 78 grooves need their own stylus. This is a specialist's deck, bought for a specific shelf of records rather than as a first turntable.
