The Planar 1 is where the range begins, and Rega built it so you cannot get set-up wrong: the RB110 arm arrives with bias pre-set and a Carbon cartridge already fitted, so you go from box to first record in about half a minute. Underneath the simplicity is real engineering — a low-noise 24V motor, a brass main bearing, a higher-mass phenolic platter for steadier speed. It is the honest entry point: no phono stage built in (that is the Planar 1 Plus), no glass platter yet (that is the Planar 2), just the cleanest way back into vinyl we know at the price.
